The Quadriplegic Association of South Africa (QASA) is an Association made up of membership of the regional associations being: Gauteng South, Gauteng North, KwaZulu Natal, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Free State & North West. 

Each region is affiliated to QASA and operates autonomously but under the guidelines of the QASA constitution. It is the intention of QASA to establish regional associations in provinces not represented so far.

The Association serves the needs of all quadriplegics who are members of their regions and strives to provide a better lifestyle and affordable independent living through its projects and policy.


Objectives
QASA has the following objectives:

· To establish Self Help Centres for independent living.
· To implement our strategic programme "Rolling out Vision & Success for Quadriplegics" 2001 - 2004
· To facilitate self-employment projects.
· To provide funding for Sport, Education, Art and Cultural needs.
· To highlight the uniqueness of quadriplegia and the special needs that it comes with.
· To promote the skills of quadriplegics in order to secure employment or self-employment opportunities.
· To promote and assist in good rehabilitation practice.
· To promote prevention of quadriplegia and support research for cure.
· To facilitate regional HIV and AIDS awareness campaigns.
· To develop strategy to satisfy the needs of all quadriplegics in S.A.
· To encourage equal access to the environment and eliminate architectural barriers.
· To promote a change in attitude about persons with disability.
· To promote relationships with similar organisations worldwide.
· To fundraise in order to achieve the above objectives.

Mission
Out of the above follows the Association's mission, which determines that QASA is a co-ordinating, policy-making, governing and supporting organisation.
The Association strives to prevent quadriplegia, as well as protect and promote quadriplegics' interests by formulating a National policy and strategy, to develop and ensure the full potential and quality of their lives.

Keys to Success 
· An elected Management comprising of a representative from each region.
· A national Director to execute vision and grow the Association. 
· Quadriplegics in leadership positions.
· Regional input to establish and revise needs.
· Membership input to establish needs and goals.
· An established office to administer the day-to-day running of the association and proper financial accounting to budget and control finances.
· Representation at SA Federal Council on Disability. (SAFCD)
· Member of the South African Spinal Cord Association (SASCA).
· Constant contact with Government departments to assist in their strategy and policy formulation.
